About the project

EduGIS Academy is aimed at popularizing the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) as well as geoinformation (GIS) in fields of science and environmental education in junior high school and high school.
To achieve this goal the nationwide EduGIS Working Group will be created. It will consist of:

  • methodological consultants from Regional Teacher Training Centres in Poland
  • experts in the field of teaching of geography and biology,
  • representatives of the Ministry of Education,
  • experts in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Poland and Norway

Members of the EduGIS Group as a team of regional animators of GIS and ICT, will be prepared to work with a teachers in the regions. They will participate in three training workshops in order to know the possibilities of using GIS techniques in working with students. Workshops will be held in 2010 in Poland (2 days in April and two days in June), as well as in Norway (3 days in September).

The end result of a project will be the guide "GIS in school” with the guidelines for teachers of geography and biology of the two levels of learning. The guide will consist of scenarios of activities and proposals for educational projects with GIS data prepared for use in classes at school.
